There is one sobering assessment I found on Fascist Book, which I thought worth copying and pasting (though I don't subscribe to it myself (truth can sometimes be stranger than fiction)). Cadawa Waller: "Scott Ritter has some interesting things to say about Lira which I am inclined to agree with. Especially after he released a tape bragging about his superior intellect on the now defunct The Saker. Check out Ask The Inspector #87.

He isn't a journalist. He was a mysogynisic life coach prior to moving to a country where he doesn't understand the culture or speak the language and begin loudly criticizing the government. He was arrested twice and released, given his passport. Why? Ritter has seen this sort of thing before when people are being used as intelligence assests. The SBU is likely using Lira to gather information about people who are anti Ukrainian. A number of his supporters have ended up on various hit lists. Don't trust him. His story doesn't make sense."

George Eliason's take on the matter, which is also interesting. Every aspect needs to be considered, however disagreeable. Gonzalo Lira Why I stand with Scott Ritter and Eva Bartlett- new circumstantial evidence https://rumble.com/v34o3m5-gonzalo-lira-why-i-stand-with-scott-ritter-and-eva-bartlett-new-circumstant.html?fbclid=IwAR2_lpZ_x6qVvgwmPL3-FCEZSzKhvj5p4kaxEtq1lvsN5xXEsq5zj3cKcWU

"What we need to be doing right now is building public support up around Gonzalo Lira's case. Whatever else you may think about him regarding his other political views, he was specifically arrested in Ukraine for opposing Nazis and opposing the shelling of Civilian areas in the Donbass region. That is something I think everybody could get behind.

Whether you have suspicions of his cooperation with the SBU or not, the right thing to do is to get behind him anyway, support him publicly, and if we're all being duped, so be it. We're doing the right thing by speaking up about this.

We need to continue building public support to put pressure on the US Government. The US State Department is supposed to be helping Gonzalo Lira, not dismissing his claims, glossing over him, and changing the subject.

We have to put pressure on these so-called human rights organizations like Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, who have so far completely ignored his case."

Many think that Gonzalo should seek asylum in Serbia rather than Hungary.

There is a third possibility: the CIA is using Gonzalo as bait to see who is "anti-Ukrainian" (anti-war/ anti-NATO). Those who speak the truth point out that the war is against both the Ukraine & Russia.

Money, for one thing. And he got his passport, motorcycle and motorcycle registration back? Then he proceeds to ride through the countryside (unimpeded) in a war zone for 1,400 miles?! Seriously? And that's just his recent antics.

Yes, but it makes sense for the authorities to be rid of him (only a fraction of the Ukraine is actually a war zone). He presents too many headaches on account of his high visibility, his dual citizenship and the fact that he comes from a rich and influential family (which explains the money). If this is an extremely elaborate game (a possibility I have seriously considered) I don't see the plan. Gonzalo has done a lot of damage to the NATO war against Russia & Ukraine. How has this benefited the Deep State? I simply don't see any sound arguments for your reasoning (which is why I will assume he is on the level and give him the benefit of the doubt). Yes, there are odd things and reasons for suspicion but the evidence seems to point to his favour.

Ok. I didn't intimate I saw a 'plan' per se. Does every counter-move necessarily benefit the Deep State? My 'argument' (sound or not), Michael is simply pointing out the absurdity of the whole scenario.'Rich kid from wealthy/influential family allowed to broadcast anti-state, anti empire videos deep within proxy war.' Does this sound credible to you?

Hm. A further stretch. Sorry Michael, not convinced GL is more than a sidebar for entertainment purposes.

FWIW I’ve been listening on and off to GL for years, well before the Russians went into Ukraine. It all seems perfectly credible and in character to me, which isn’t to say that I’m sure you’re wrong. An appropriate name for him would be Gonzo Lira.

There are many, Andrew, and one of my favorites has to be 'The Great Shark Hunt'. It's about the 1972 Nixon/McGovern presidential race. I think he was working for Rolling Stone at the time.

As a lifetime adherent of the original (and only-imo- Gonzo journalist, Hunter S. Thompson) I have to laugh! Nothing I have heard/read of Lira even touches HST's hilariously powerful material.
