Who Killed Gonzalo?
In the same way that silent, cruel and mean neglect, whether of concentration camp prisoners, POWs or refugees, is an abominable and particularly heinous crime, so now Gonzalo Lira has been “cast into the shadows”. The question is: who bears responsibility for this murder?
Curiously enough Genocide Joe and all who voted for him, full knowing his history of right-wing malice, corruption and imperialism, as well as his son’s weak, lewd and tawdry character, are principle suspects. Yet they don’t stand alone. Zelensky is, above all else, to be held to account as he’s ostensibly running (as de facto dictator) the proxy banana republic of Ukraine.
The most obvious, immediate, suspect is the governor of the jail (dungeon) Gonzalo was thrown into. Governors of prisons must be held responsible (and if need be imprisoned themselves) if those in their charge perish under questionable circumstances.
Of the exact circumstances of Gonzalo’s death, we know extremely little indeed and they must be thoroughly investigated. This is the direct responsibility of both the Chilean consulate and American embassy in Kiev.
Gonzalo himself wrote:
“I have had double pneumonia (both lungs) as well as pneumothorax and a very severe case of edema (swelling of the body). All this started in mid-October but was ignored by the prison. They only admitted I had pneumonia at a Dec. 22 hearing. I am about to have a procedure to reduce the edema pressure in my lungs, which is causing me extreme shortness of breath, to the point of passing out after minimal activity, or even just talking for 2 minutes.”
His father added: “I cannot accept the way my son has died. He was tortured, extorted, incommunicado for 8 months and 11 days and the US Embassy did nothing to help my son. The responsibility of this tragedy is the dictator Zelensky with the concurrence of a senile American President, Joe Biden.”
Jackson Hinkle posted on X/Twitter:
“Rest in Peace Gonzalo Lira. You imparted a great deal of wisdom to me in our conversations, and on everyone who was lucky enough to watch your streams and read your work. I will never forget what Zelensky and his Nazi Ukrainian government did to you at the behest of the Biden Administration. They imprisoned, tortured, extorted and ultimately murdered you for speaking the truth. Your unique situation helped ignite a fire in my heart to expose the truth about the warmongering US empire. Your murderers who believe your death is the ‘defeat’ of your ideas are seriously mistaken. We will ensure that your legacy lives on and that the world looks to your heroic example of courage in the face of imperialism for generations to come.”
John Leake commented: “Since Julian Assange’s arrest and indefinite detention, it has become clear that the United States government does not care about journalists who challenge the Military-Industrial Complex. Indeed, I have no doubt that our lords would prefer that all such troublemakers be sent to a gulag.”
“The only thing I can say for sure is that nothing would surprise me now. The republics of the West have been destabilised and their governments are increasingly shadowy and unrestrained by constitutional law or budgetary constraints. The legacy press is now almost perfectly subservient to those in power. Note that in the case of Gonzalo Lira, many journalists in the West seem to think that five to seven years in a prison labor camp is a fitting punishment for criticizing the Zelensky regime. NOT a severe warning, a bit of jail time to frighten him, and finally deportation—but up to seven years imprisonment, apparently without proper medical care, as it seems that Lira died of severe pneumonia while in custody.
The upshot is that there are fewer and fewer impediments to the imposition of tyranny, and for most of history, limited government of the people, by the people, for the people has been a great exception, and NOT the norm.”[1]
In a more defensive mode Scott Ritter posted: “People have asked me to comment on the death of Gonzalo Lira. Any death is a tragedy, especially under the conditions faced by Gonzalo. The U.S. government did nothing to secure his release. He leaves a wife and children without a husband and father. He leaves a father without a son. None of this changes anything about my assessment of the behaviour that led to his arrest. I’ve written about this in detail and stand by every word.”
What exactly he means by that is the following[2]:
“Gonzalo Lira, the well-known Chilean-American YouTube personality, has been in the news lately. A former “lifestyle” coach, Lira re-branded himself as a geopolitical commentator in the lead-up to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, providing gripping first-hand observations—often critical of the Ukrainian government and contradictory of the Ukrainian narrative—that were posted on YouTube.”
At the very outset this is both inaccurate and deeply unfair. Gonzalo didn’t “re-brand” himself as a “geopolitical commentator” but rather found himself in the midst of a war and was faced with the choice of speaking out or staying silent; a lesser soul would have opted for the latter. Whether Gonzalo’s “observations” were gripping or not is irrelevant. The point is that they were informed by personal observation (empirical evidence), a deep knowledge of Ukraine’s political landscape, and a deep love of Ukraine (Gonzalo must be remembered not only as an American and Chilean but also as a Ukrainian patriot who literally died for that particular country).
What Gonzalo did was tell the truth as he saw it and for this he was arrested and killed. The truth, the CIA has famously emblazoned on its floor (to be stepped on and spat at if need be), does truly set us free (nothing else is quite as effective). It was because Gonzalo sought the truth honestly and in a critical, philosophical fashion, that he became a thorn in the side of the authorities and, more importantly the Deep State.
One does have to ask at this juncture whether Scott Ritter is in fact a Deep State asset (unlike Gonzalo he has an “intelligence background” and has been convicted of online pedophilia) and whether the entire war in the Ukraine is, fundamentally, a CIA war (much in the same way that L Fletcher Prouty alleged that the war in Vietnam was a CIA operation). It’s not the truth the Cocaine Import Agency loves but, on the contrary (and for very obvious reasons): lies.
