What Caused the First World War?

A Hidden History

Given that we find ourselves on the brink of World War Three it seems, in the hope we may learn something from the past, fitting to examine the origins of others (see also letter #39).

Martin Gilbert gives multiple reasons for the First World War[1]: the “ambition” of the Germans, the Russians and the Slavs, as well as the “conflicting fears and desires” which served as “multiple fuses waiting to be ignited” while Niall Ferguson devotes four chapters to this topic[2] without reaching any satisfactory conclusion.

Two works: Barbara Tuchman’s “August 1914” and Christopher Clark’s “The Sleepwalkers” come close but have no cut or dried explanation while Thomas Mann’s: “Betrachtungen Eines Unpolitischen” (“Reflections of a Nonpolitical Man”) flatly blames the Illuminati/Freemasons. After all, the infamous Pike letter of 1871 states:

“The First World War must be brought about in order to permit the Illuminati to overthrow the power of the Czars in Russia and of making that country a fortress of atheistic Communism. The divergences caused by the “agentur” (agents) of the Illuminati between the British and Germanic Empires will be used to foment this war. At the end of the war, Communism will be built and used in order to destroy the other governments and in order to weaken the religions.”

Hidden History

Alone Gerry Docherty & Jim Macgregor’s, “Hidden History: The Secret Origins of the First World War”[3] provides a cogent, thorough and convincing explanation, which is why this, my 114^th letter will be wholly devoted to this magnificent piece of elegant erudition, which “sets out to prove that unscrupulous men, whose roots and origins were in Britain, sought a war to crush Germany and orchestrated events in order to bring this about. 1914 is generally considered as the starting point for the disaster that followed, but the crucial decisions that led to war had been taken many years before.”[4]

Docherty and Macgregor’s research began with Caroll Quigley’s “The Anglo-American Establishment” and “Tragedy and Hope”. Through Quigley’s “investigations we know that Cecil Rhodes, the South African diamond millionaire, formed the secret society in London during the last decade of the nineteenth century. Its aims included renewal of the bond between Great Britain and the United States and the spread of all they considered to be good in English ruling-class values and traditions. Their ultimate goal was to bring all habitable portions of the world under their influence and control. The individuals involved harboured a common fear, a deep and bitter fear, that unless something radical was done their wealth, power and influence would be eroded and overtaken by foreigners, foreign interests, foreign business, foreign customs and foreign laws. They believed that white men of Anglo-Saxon descent rightly sat at the top of a racial hierarchy, a hierarchy built on predominance in trade, industry and exploitation of other races. To their minds, the choice was stark. Either take drastic steps to protect and further develop the British Empire or accept that countries like Germany would reduce them to bit-players on the world’s stage.”

“The members of this Secret Elite were only too well aware that Germany was rapidly beginning to overtake Britain in all areas of technology, science, industry and commerce. They also considered Germany to be a cuckoo in the Empire’s African nest and were concerned about its growing influence in Turkey, the Balkans and Middle East. They set out to ditch the cuckoo.”

“The Secret Elite were influenced by the philosophy of the nineteenth century Oxford professor John Ruskin, whose concept was built on his belief in the superiority and the authority of the English ruling classes acting in the best interests of their inferiors. And they professed that what they intended was for the good of mankind – for civilisation. A civilisation they would control, approve, manage and make profitable.”[5]

The White Man’s Burden

As one brought up in England I know all too well what the authors mean. For decades I thought England and all things English inherently morally superior to everything else on the planet. I was taught at school, for example, that the British Empire was more selfless and noble than its Spanish, Portuguese, French or Belgian counterparts, which were renowned for their barbarity. It was the English and purely the English who assumed the “White Man’s Burden” and who brought “civilisation” and “material progress” to the ungrateful natives.

Despite all the evidence to the contrary there remain no shortage today of apologists on behalf of the British Empire. One happens to be Niall Ferguson, who writes: “no organisation in history has done more to promote the free movement of goods, capital and labour than the British Empire…”[6] Thankfully, enough historians, such as John Newsinger[7] challenge this narrative.

At university I wrote an essay about the end of the slave trade but got horribly muddled and confused. Yet, at the end of the day I was persuaded that the British had ended, despite everything, the horror on account of their “moral virtue”. That the entire British Empire was based on the slave and opium trade, on rape and pillage, didn’t occur to me and it came as a profound shock when I watched the musical “Poppy” by Peter Nichols. The scene in the film “Gandhi” (by Richard Attenborough) in which British troops massacre civilians (the infamous “Amritsar massacre”) was, for me at the time, the exception and not the rule. It was only considerably later that I became disillusioned with England and it’s no coincidence that I’m living abroad today.

Even the current “Genocide by Jab” has, most probably, British origins though it will take decades to prove it. Paradoxically it is British subjects and American citizens who’re suffering from it more than any African, which might be regarded as an irony of history. At the same time: one mustn’t forget that the British Monarchy is, essentially, a German concern, Prince Philip (who my mother referred to as “seedy”) spoke about how he wanted to be re-incarnated as a virus to depopulate the planet while the Queen (who my mother thought “pathetic”) was still wanted at the time of her death for the murder of a dozen First Nation children in Canada, a crime she committed in 1964! But I digress…

The Spider’s Web

“The secret society specifically infiltrated the two great organs of imperial government: the Foreign Office and the Colonial Office, and established their control over senior civil servants who dominated these domains. In addition, they took control of the departments and committees that would enable their ambitions: the War Office, the Committee of Imperial Defence and the highest echelons of the armed services. Party-political allegiance was not a given prerequisite; loyalty to the cause certainly was.”

“Their tentacles spread out to Russia and France, the Balkans and South Africa, and their targets were agents in the highest offices of foreign governments who were bought and nurtured for future use. America offered a different challenge. Initially, the possibility of bringing the United States back into an expanded empire was discussed but, realistically, American economic growth and future potential soon rendered such an idea redundant. Instead, they expanded their power-base to bring Anglophile Americans into the secret brotherhood, men who would go on to dominate the world through financial institutions and dependent governments.”[8]

Then, as now, money plays the key role. As has been shown by Dean Henderson[9] and others the Anglo-American Empire controls both the drug trade[10] and (interlocking) banking industry[11]. Then, as now, bribery and blackmail were the means to the same end: One World Government (the complete domination by the Anglo-American Empire).

That the same Establishment (and at times the same individuals (e.g. Churchill)) which was demonstrably responsible for World War One was also responsible for World War Two should hardly surprise.

It’s surely no coincidence that both the US & UK are at the heart of the Genocide by Jab, the current War on Russia and the push toward digital identities and electronic currencies, which would permanently enslave humanity.

The sooner people become aware of the world in which they actually live and wake up from their make-believe Hollywood and BBC inspired fantasies, which they mistake for reality, the sooner those accountable for the crimes against humanity can be held to account.
