Dear Mr. Medhurst,
Sadly, I can’t agree with your statement that the Hamas assault is a “victory for the Global South, a victory for colonized people”[1]; it’s nothing of the sort. The fact that over a thousand Israelis have been killed is quite simply appalling. Equally heart-rending is the murder of countless Palestinian innocents, which is happening as we speak. What Hamas is consciously doing (it’s nothing other than a Deep State tool) is “creating a pretext”, as Brian Berletic[2] rightly points out, for a new “mowing of the lawn”. This time around however the brutality will undoubtedly exceed anything witnessed to date. As Gideon Levy wrote:
“The Gaza Palestinians have decided they’re willing to pay any price for a moment of freedom. Is there any hope in that? No. Will Israel learn its lesson? No.”
“On Saturday they were already talking about wiping out entire neighborhoods in Gaza, about occupying the Strip and punishing Gaza “as it has never been punished before.” But Israel hasn’t stopped punishing Gaza since 1948, not for a moment.””
“After 75 years of abuse, the worst possible scenario awaits it once again. The threats of “flattening Gaza” prove only one thing: We haven’t learned a thing. The arrogance is here to stay, even though Israel is paying a high price once again.”
“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu bears very great responsibility for what happened, and he must pay the price, but it didn’t start with him and it won’t end after he goes. We now have to cry bitterly for the Israeli victims, but we should also cry for Gaza.”
“Gaza, most of whose residents are refugees created by Israel. Gaza, which has never known a single day of freedom.”[3]
The question of Gaza is, in some respects, as Norman Finkelstein has stated[4], perfectly simple. Gaza is made up largely of refugees (c.70%), half of its c.2m population are children, it is tiny (5 miles by 25 miles), poor and is the most densely populated place on the planet. When the Israeli defense minister announces that Gaza will have neither food, fuel nor electricity he’s announcing (unless someone prevents it) a genocide foretold.
Jake Johnson writes: “Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced a “complete siege” of the Gaza Strip on Monday, pledging to block food and fuel from entering the occupied enclave and cut off the territory’s electricity—steps that international law experts and other observers decried as a clear war crime that will devastate civilians.”
“There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed,” said Gallant.
“Using rhetoric that one commentator called “blatantly genocidal,” Gallant added that “we are fighting human animals and we are acting accordingly.”
“…Starving 2 million people who cannot move and are under a land siege and naval blockade is genocide,” Pakistani writer Fatima Bhutto wrote on social media. “This is a war crime.”[5]
I’d like to explore what this will inevitably mean by reminding you of what Operation Cast Lead of 2008-2009 meant for ordinary Palestinians. It will however, take a couple of letters to do so.
The aim of perpetual war is ultimately Orwellian and it has been well-documented (such as the Report from Iron Mountain) that war is frequently seen by the Establishment as a means of maintaining social cohesion. In a society where the rifts are extremely deep, such as Israel (Mizrahi/Ashkenazim), such a welding, which its vast military industrial complex provides, is especially helpful. Without war, Israel would most probably cease to exist.
There are also a number of other factors in play, including the fate of the al-Aqsa mosque:
“Perhaps the most central focus of the “Fullfill-Prophecy” activists” Wolfgang Eggert tells us, “revolves around the temple of the mythical Jewish King Solomon.”
“Since Bush administration circles announced the beginning of the Third World War (against “terror”), the Redemption Camp has been looking with great excitement at the Old Testament sites of Jerusalem. The reason: For the “last days”, in which the apocalyptic battle between the superpowers Gog and Magog will commence, the construction of the third temple is expected at a supposedly historical site, on the Temple Mount…. The old Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock (from here, according to Muslim tradition, Mohammed ascended to heaven) are central shrines of Islam. They should now go.”[6]
This is very much in keeping with the Illuminati/Sabbatean/Frankist/Satanist agenda I wrote about in my previous letter…
Our first thoughts must ALWAYS be for the weak and suffering, whether they be Palestinian or Israeli and our sincere hope must ALWAYS be for peace and justice.
Best,
Michael

Thank you for your humane commentary... Compassion for our fellow humans ... and historical perspective... are tragically scarce at the moment. Be well.
Yes, well written. Prof Chossudovski mentions Operation Cast Lead in his article today and writes plenty about Gaza's offshore gas. The cutting off water, food, electricity and medicines is without doubt against international law, yet western so called leaders spout "we stand with Israel."
